A Monday Night Out With School Pals At A Local Pub Results In Abusive And Hazardous Drinking And Symptoms Of Alcohol Poisoning
When Lois was in high school, she had gained a reputation as a book worm who rarely, if ever, drank with her classmates. She seemed single-minded about excelling academically so that she would be able to secure a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some financial security.
After Lois graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a highly rated program in English. Her logic for this decision was that this subject area would be good training for law school and would not be identical to the bulk of law school applicants who choose political science as their undergraduate major or minor.
Lois was the kind of person who worked in a rigorous manner to complete what she was doing and then would take a breather when she could. As it turns out, nonetheless, a large number of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations did not have much of anything to do with drinking. It almost goes without saying that Lois was anything but a party-girl. Now that her final exams for her second year in law school were over and feeling happy that she had done extremely well on her tests, nonetheless, she wanted to let her hair down and do something enjoyable.
So Lois and a number of her pals went to a local pub where they had a few drinks. As the evening progressed, Lois and her friends continued to drink. In actual fact, she was having such a fantastic time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.
After drinking around two hours when Lois began to talk in a confused manner, slur her speech, and then fall unconscious, however, her friends promptly knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency number, and ask for emergency assistance because they thought that Lois was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.
Lois was very aware that she had dodged a bullet and almost died due to an alcohol overdose and, as a result, was grateful to be alive. At the same time, however, she was somewhat dejected knowing that she had almost passed away the night before. Her Mom and Dad knew how hard she studied at school and how little she let herself experience a social life. Nonetheless, they also were aware that Lois needed to keep away from careless and excessive drinking.
As a result, they suggested that in the future, whenever a drinking situation presents itself, that she always drink in moderation. Lois was in agreement with this and assured her friends and her Mother and Father that she would never ever drink in an irresponsible and abusive manner. In her own words, "I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local newspaper. I now know that abusive and excessive drinking is not the best for me. I assert that this will never happen again."
Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also displayed a lot of. That is, she quickly understood that she had made a mistake and decided that she would never make the same mistake again. In point of fact, she now understood that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this type of excessive and hazardous drinking can end in death.
