A Teenager Questions Her Drinking Classmates To Learn More About Alcohol Abuse And Alcohol Addiction

Heather drank on a usual basis with her drinking buddies. One Friday after all her classes were completed, she began reflecting on the amount of alcohol she ingested and the abusive and excessive drinking of her pals. As a consequence of this, she politely asked all of her drinking buddies the following question: "what do we honestly know about alcoholism, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and alcohol abuse? In other words, how much alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse information do we truly know? For our age, we obviously drink in an excessive and abusive manner and I am really beginning to wonder if we are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related issues down the road.

I think that we should go on the Internet and learn all that we can about alcoholism, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and alcohol abuse. And then if we have any relevant questions that we cannot understand after we conclude our online research, we can take a hike to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Pine to help us understand what we do not know.

It should not come as a big shock that what Heather articulated would instigate a heated discussion. For example, her best friend since the seventh grade, Maeve, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be worried about excessive and irresponsible drinking. Another drinking pal named Alexander stated that since most teenagers drink there is no commonsensical reason why they should be any different. Another buddy named Molly said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another drinking friend named Dean in fact agreed with Heather primarily because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related difficulties.

Heather openly mentioned to her buddies that she comprehended everything that they had articulated but that engaging in irresponsible drinking at such a vulnerable age in all honesty cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward establishing a worthwhile life. When a couple of her buddies asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Heather was discussing, Heather articulated the following: alcohol-related problems like alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, alcoholism, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances) and alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, cancer, and heart disease.

When Heather then stressed that abusive and unhealthy drinking usually results in financial, legal, relationship, and school problems, some of her drinking friends finally started to understand how far reaching and how devastating careless and excessive drinking can be. Without a doubt some of her drinking pals opened up and started to reveal how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had adversely affected their parents and some of their friends.

After going over some of the alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse problems that are related to abusive and unhealthy drinking, the vast majority of her drinking friends seemed to like the idea about getting information on the Internet. They were, conversely, leery about discussing their drinking behavior with the administrators at school. As Heather reflected on this she whispered to herself, "at least they are somewhat excited about leaning more about their unhealthy and abusive drinking. This is a very fine start."
